Advanced Tai-Chi Workshop
Dates: to be announced
Based at: Peace Cove Inn, Trinity East, Newfoundland
Following on from the Retreat is a 7 day workshop introducing the 37 Step Yang-style Tai-Chi Form. This workshop is only open to participants of the Retreat and students who have previously studied Rainbow Tai-Chi.
Studying the Rainbow Tai-Chi Form is a wonderful extension to learning the Rainbow Tai-Chi fundamentals, on the Retreat or with other Rainbow Tai-Chi instructors elsewhere. The Form brings everything together in one beautiful sequence of movement. This will increase your depth of self-understanding by using the Form as a mirror of your own inner being. The Form has great therapeutic benefits leading us towards greater emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health. We will also study aspects of the Tai-Chi Classics: learning to root ourselves through the feet, move from the waist and the art of stillness in motion. Even without these benefits learning and practicing the Form is such a great delight in itself, a truely moving experience, bringing more lightness and joy into your life. Where practical we will be practicing outside in our beautiful natural environment, taking inspiration from the sea, the sky, the trees, the birds and the whales. Join us in this delightful heartwarming and thought-provoking course.
Cost
The course fee for the advanced workshop to be announced.
This includes all teaching, six lunches and all refreshments during the day. You will be responsible for the cost of accommodation and evening meals. Local bed and breakfast rates are from CAN$85 plus HST (17%) per night for a double room. There is plenty of choice for evening dining. An alternative is to book a local self-contained apartment, often called 'housekeeping units''. There is an excellent example just up the road from the Peace Cove Inn. Camping is also available at a lovely Provincial Parks site several miles away. We will gladly help you sort out your accommodation for this week.

TeacherDavid Ellis will be teaching the whole course. He studied the 37 Step Yang-style Form with Peter Chin Kean Choy at the Rainbow Tai-Chi School in Devon, UK. Peter Choy studied with Master Huang of Malaysia, who was one of Professor Cheng Man-Ching's best students. Cheng Man-Ching devised, taught and promoted the 37 Step Form from the 1930's in China and later in the USA making this the most popular Yang-style form. David will be videoing some of the teaching sessions.
